Dolores Searcey
September 15, 1932 - May 2, 2025
Dolores "Dolly" E. (Heuer) Searcey, 92 years of age, of Lincoln, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln. She was born at her grandma's house in Cook on September 15, 1932, to Werner and Rose (Stobbe) Heuer. Dolly held various jobs in the city of Beatrice and enjoyed all of them. At the age of 16 she married Jim Doyle on December 28, 1948, and this was the happiest 36 years of her life. Their marriage was unusual, a beautiful twosome, and they were blessed with three wonderful children, Terry, Gerry and Sherry. Jim passed away in 1984 due to a heart aneurism on November 16th when the Lord took him home. Later in life she met Duane Searcey, and they were married in 1986. Of the 33 years of marriage to Duane, they traveled for 20 years in the US, Canadian provinces and a lot abroad. After that time Duane started slowing down and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Once he learned of his disease, he decided to donate his body to research. Finally, Duane needed specialized care in Lincoln; he passed on November 28, 2018. Dolly was very proud of him when he chose to donate his body for research at the University of Nebraska Hospital to have his brain examined for this disease, hoping it could help others. After Duane died, Dolly moved to Lincoln, bought a condo, and happily lived there for several years. She enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, and going on small jaunts with Sherry. Then in 2021, a gentleman named Gary Neilson gave her a call. They started seeing each other and became very serious. They enjoyed all their time in a precious relationship. She had been alone for four years and so enjoyed his devoted companionship. They planned to be together the rest of their lives. Her family and friends will miss her deeply.
Dolly is survived by her significant other, Gary Nielsen of Lincoln; children, Terry Doyle and wife, Ella, Gerry Doyle, both of Beatrice, Sherry Haeffner and husband, Bill of Lincoln; grandchildren, Kelleigh Doyle, Teryn Doyle, Jennifer Muresan; great-grandchild, Aaven Doyle-Dabney; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jim Doyle; second husband, Duane Searcey; and sisters, Wernetta "Nettie" Grimm and husband, Art, and Deborah Devol.
