Dolores "Dee" Norma Singer, 95, of Miami Beach, passed away on March 20, 2026. She was married to Seymour "Sey" D. Singer of blessed memory. For more than four decades, Dee and Sey shared an extraordinary life together, marked by deep family ties, wonderful adventures with family and friends, and a commitment to supporting one another's professional and civic endeavors. Dolores is survived by her children, Susanne Justan (Al) and Bruce Singer (the late Ronnie Furlong); grandchildren, Howard Justan (Susanne), Andrew Singer (Rebecca Merritt), and Jennifer Schiefelbein (David); great-grandchildren, Lila and Zachary Singer, Joshua Justan, Emma and Jacob Schiefelbein; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three beloved sisters, Annette Levy, Marilyn Kaufman, and Roberta Weiss.
Born in
Far Rockaway, New York in 1930 to Samuel and Hilda Reiter, Dee moved with her family to Miami Beach in 1935. She attended Ida M. Fisher Elementary and Miami Beach Senior High School. Dee LOVED growing up on Miami Beach. Her parents owned a fruit shipping business on the corner of Dade Boulevard and Alton Road, and she cherished her time at the 14th Street beach-first as a teenager and then with Suzie and Bruce in tow. Dee would often say that her kids were "born with sand in their diapers."
In 1942, when Miami Beach was transformed from a tourist haven to a military training ground, twelve-year-old Dee was given the honorary rank of "Sergeant" as the mascot of the 587th Regiment of the U.S. Army-an honor she treasured.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Dee was especially proud of her membership in the Miami Fronton Amateur Jai Alai League, where she played in her late teens. She displayed her cesta and pelota, along with a cherished collection of bobbleheads and other sports memorabilia in her home. Her love of sports extended well beyond jai alai-Dee and Sey held season tickets to the Dolphins, Canes, Panthers, and Marlins, all at the same time.
Beyond sports, Dee curated an extraordinary owl collection, featuring hundreds of pieces made of glass, stone, ceramic, and metal, as well as artwork from around the world that adorned her home in the Towers of Quayside.
Dee was deeply committed to her community, loved opera and the arts, and supported numerous charities and civic organizations. She volunteered as a "Pink Lady" at Mount Sinai Medical Center and later became an active member of the Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her personal physician, Jay Reinberg, MD, and her team of home health care professionals from SensiCARE of South Florida-Nell, Joycelyn, Juna, Luna, Rose, Eileen, and Carlean-whose compassionate care allowed Dee to remain comfortably in her home for many years.
The funeral will take place at Levitt-Weinstein Blasberg, Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel, 18840 W. Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 12:00 pm, followed by burial at Mount Nebo Miami Memorial Gardens, 5505 NW 3rd St., Miami, Florida. The family will be receiving guests on Monday, March 23 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Quayside Tower I.
