Dolphy Cantrell Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brough Funeral Home on Oct. 27, 2025.
Dolphy "Doc" Cantrell, 90, of Cedarville, Ohio, went to be with our Lord on October 25, 2025. Doc was born on July 2, 1935 to the late James and Roxie (Hamilton) Cantrell; in Morgan County, KY.
At the age of 18, Doc enlisted and served in the Army. He worked at GH&R Foundry and Dalton Maintenance, Inc. where he was a co-owner and retired in 1996. He was a member of Fairborn FWB Church.
He married Loverna on October 21, 1961; they celebrated 60 years of marriage before Lovern's passing in 2022. They had two children, Jeffrey Cantrell and Karen (Junior) Morgan. Doc's pride and joy were his grandsons Zachary (Sable) Morgan and Kaleb (Crystal Stephan) Morgan; and his great-grandchildren, Zoey, Axel and Abel.
Doc is preceded in death by his wife Loverna and son Jeffrey. Siblings: Dorothy (Floyd) Howard, Darlie (Jo) Cantrell, Paul (Lillie) Cantrell, Ted Cantrell, Bill Cantrell, Danny Cantrell. In-laws: Mary (Harold) Keeton, Norman (Joanie) Kilgore and Dexter Kilgore.
Doc is survived by his Daughter Karen and her family as well as siblings: Jeanne Summerford and Joyce Campanga. Doc was extremely close to his in-laws Sam (Diane) Kilgore and Deloris Kilgore as well as a host of nieces, nephews and a host of cousins.
Doc was known for his sense of humor, wit, cooking skills (especially his famous ham) and gardening. Doc was a hard worker but also enjoyed things like coaching little league and seeing his children and grandchildren succeed in life. Doc loved the outdoors, fishing, mushroom hunting, and hiking. He took pride in his yard and house and he knew how to work Lovern's honey-do lists. He loved bargain hunting and couponing. Doc enjoyed reading old western books and sun-bathing. He always had the best tan and the best legs. Doc loved being present and helpful to everyone. Most of his conversations started with "Son, let me tell you " Doc will be greatly missed. He was the anchor, always first to get a plate and always making us laugh. While at Trinity rehabilitation, Doc prayed and gave his heart to the Lord. He knew that he made Heaven his eternal home. While we will miss him here on earth, we know that Heaven is that much sweeter with Doc there.
