Domenico Zaino

Domenico Zaino, 89, of Rocky Hill, the loving husband of Lucia Tucci Zaino, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, June 20, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Domenico was born on June 8, 1936 in Popoli, Province of Pescara, Italy, to the late Nerino and Antonietta Zaino. He came to the United States in 1962 and, with his wife, raised a beautiful family who meant everything to him. He was an incredibly hard-working, selfless provider and caretaker who enjoyed spending time his family, first and foremost. Domenico also had a passion for gardening, taking long walks, being by the beach, traveling and especially spending summers in Italy with his wife of nearly 60 years. Nonno was a superstar in the eyes of his 12 adoring grandchildren, with whom he constantly sang, danced and shared beautiful stories. Although he never craved the spotlight, Nonno always graciously played the leading role in the countless videos his grandchildren made, and his family will cherish them forever. Besides his wife, Domenico is survived by a daughter, Antonietta Ferreira and her husband Neil of Rocky Hill; three sons, Domenico Jr. and his wife Laura of Glastonbury, Mark and his wife Suzy of Darien, Michael and his wife Maria of New York City; twelve cherished grandchildren, Mark Ferriera and his wife Krysta, Joseph Ferreira, Sarah Zaino, Christopher Zaino, Charlotte Zaino, Olivia Ferreira, Katherine Zaino, Samantha Zaino, Alexandra Zaino, Julia Zaino, Christina Zaino, and Henry Zaino. He also leaves a sister, Rita DeLutiis of Milan, Italy; a brother, Berardino and his wife Gianna of Wethersfield; a sister in-law Nicolina (Maria) Zaino of Wethersfield; a brother-in-law, Aldo Tucci and his wife Maria of Newington and many nieces and nephews. Besides his beloved parents, Domenico was predeceased by his sister, Egidia Smarrelli, a brother, Palmerino Felice Zaino, both of Wethersfield, and brothers-in-law Mario Smarrelli and Mimmo DeLutiis. The Zaino family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook St, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. A funeral service will be held at 11:30a.m. in St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, St. James Church, 767 Elm St, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, with burial thereafter at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill.
