Dominic Gilbert Romero, 61 of Santa Rosa, NM passed away from a lengthy illness on Sunday July 27, 2025.
Dominic was born on January 30,1964 in Santa Rosa, NM to Gilbert and Agnes Romero. He was raised in Santa Rosa where he attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School through 8th grade and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1982.
Dominic worked for Bradley Baker, J & H Construction, Rivera Construction and Fisher Construction. As a truck driver he ended his career working for Guadalupe County.
His hobbies included camping, hunting, fishing and hanging out with close friends watching UFC and boxing.
Dominic is preceded in death by his father Gilbert Romero, grandparents Manual and Ignacita Romero, Grandmother Maria V. Dimas, and brother-in-law John A. Lott.
Survivors include mother, Agnes Romero of Santa Rosa; daughter: Ashlee Lauren Maestas of Tempe, AZ; sister, Julie Lott of Rio Rancho, NM; brothers, Steve Romero and Mary Francis of Albuquerque, Daniel and Millie Romero of San Diego, along with several nieces and nephews.
When Dominic was born, the hospital was run by the Dominican Sisters of Grand Rapids, MI. Upon birth, the Sisters kindly asked Agnes and Gilbert to name him Dominic. The sisters asked Agnes to stay in the hospital an extra day so they could finish making a Saint Dominic outfit, which he was baptized in, which Agnes still has today.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at noon at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa, NM.
Urn Bearers are nephews, Joseph and Andrew Romero, Connor Lott, and Steve Romero, Jr.
Honorary Urn Bearers are Chris and Rudy Tenorio, Michael (Mero) Maestas, Simon Serrano, Richard Blea, Luis Estupinan, and Benny Sanchez
