Dominica Josephine deBrauwere, 65, born February 13, 1960 in Boston, Massachusetts to Alan Parrott & Janice Parrott, was called to the Lord Wednesday, October 22, 2025, after a five year battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at home in Marianna, Florida, surrounded by the Love of her family and friends. She was tended to by Emerald Coast Hospice and several family members and friends.
Dominica graduated from Piper High School in Sunrise, Florida in 1978. In her Senior Year she was named Piper High's Most Outstanding Athlete for her athletic abilities in Track and Cross County Running. She held this title for twenty years, before being replaced by her nephew Christopher Parrott for his skill as a football player. She graduated from Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work in 1986 before attending Florida State University where she graduated with her Master's Degree in Social Work in 1987. She became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the State of Florida in 1993 before becoming a Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the National Association of Social Workers in 1994.
Dominica started her private practice as a Clinical Social Worker in 2000 and continued this calling until her passing. She started her profession at the Tallahassee Behavioral Health Center in 1989 before working for Capital Health Plan in Tallahassee in 1994. She moved to the Children's Intervention and Resource Center in Tallahassee in 2000 before working at the Florida State University Counseling Center from 2007 to 2014. She took special interest in counseling veterans for PTSD and was the liaison between the Counseling Center and the Veterans Affairs Office at the University.
In 2009, Dominica met John deBrauwere and soon started dating. Dominica and John became inseparable and married on April 10, 2011 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marianna, FL.
In their free time, Dominica and John enjoyed being in the outdoors and riding around their property on their side by side. She became an avid hunter after meeting John and during her first year hunting she shot three 8pts, "small, medium and extra-large". Dominica had two dogs, Gator and Seminole, both of which she loved to spoil.
Dominica also enjoyed her membership in the Florida Forestry Association, especially participating in their Annual Meeting Golf Tournaments and Silent Auctions.
She was preceded in death by her Step Father Matt Matthews and by her Mother Janice Matthews; her Aunt Shirley Kanelos and her Uncle, Joseph Barber.
Dominica is survived by her brothers, Nick Parrott and his wife, Linda; and her brother Alan and his wife, Barbara. She has a nephew Christopher Parrott and his wife, Vanessa, and their three children. She has a niece Josie and her husband, Matthew and their two children. She also has a nephew Alan Parrott as well as her aunt, Najet Barber.
She has first cousins on her Mother's side Charlie Kanelos and his wife Joanne from Dedham, Ma; Greg Kanelos and his wife, Patricia from Franklin, MA; Cheryl Wachter Kanelos and her husband Ric, from Rochester, NH; Josephine Cordahi and her husband Kalim of Norfolk, MA; Nidah Raymond of Beverly Hills, California; and Sue Ellen Barber of Westwood, Ma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 1, 2025 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with Reverend Bob Ott, Bishop Adrian Abner and Deacon Estelle Whiddon officiating. Interment will be private at Dominica's Memorial Garden following the service with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends for a time of fellowship from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 31, 2025 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Lambe Family at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
