Obituary for Dominica Rowan September 12, 1930 – August 15, 2025
Amazing mom, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt
Dominica Rowan, affectionately known as Mickey, passed away on August 15, 2025 at the age of 94.
Mickey was born on September 12, 1930 to her mother, Adeline DeLuca in Bronx, New York. Unfortunately, her father Dominic died two weeks before she was born.
Mickey devoted her life to her family. Nothing gave her more pleasure than being with her children and grandchildren. Her biggest passion was walking, which she enjoyed immensely. She also enjoyed shopping, Lifetime movies and the occasional trips to the Raceway Casino. But Mickey was best known for her delicious chicken cutlets and rice and peas.
She learned perseverance and strength at a very young age. Those traits carried with her throughout her life. She began her working career at the young age of 14 at Blue Cross/ Blue Shield downtown as she referred to as Manhattan. She retired in her late 70s working as Office Manager for a contractor/landlord in the Bronx after working for him over 40 years.
She spent the last 4 years as a resident in Salem Hills Nursing Home where she enjoyed arts and crafts, music, bingo and many other activities. She was loved by all who took care of her every day.
Mickey is survived by her two daughters Stephanie Massi (Jim), Lauren McKay (Jeff) and her son Joseph. She was a beloved grandmother to Shaun (Jaymee), TJ (Elise), Matthew and Schyler (Tim) and many nieces and nephews.
She was a beloved Nana to her great grandchildren Christian, Dominic and Vincent.
Mickey was also very loved by her extended Massi family who considered her their grandmother and Nana – Jessica and Adam and their children Dylan and Gabriella and Nicole and Burt Marino.
