Dominick D'Andrea Obituary

Dominick M. D'Andrea
Dominick Michael D'Andrea, beloved father and grandfather. Cos Cob native, retired operating engineer and successful business owner, died peacefully surrounded by his family, at Greenwich Hospital on October 24, 2022, after a very brief illness. He was 80 years old. He was born April 11, 1942 in Greenwich to the late Eleanor Barbara and the late Michael A. D'Andrea. He attended Cos Cob School, and in his youth, he was a proud member of the Greenwich Boys Club bugle corps.
Dominick is known for his incredible work ethic. As a mere teenager, he started working along with his father and grandfather, both landscaping contractors in the family business. In 1962, Dom became an Operating Engineer, working in construction as a heavy equipment operator for 45 years. In addition, Dom operated his own successful landscaping business, Dominick D'Andrea and Sons Landscaping. In 2007, he retired, able to devote more time to family, particularly his granddaughter Ava.
Dom was a lifelong member and former vice-president of the St. Lawrence Society of Cos Cob. He never missed the annual picnic with the Cos Cob Mianus Dugout Old Timers. He also supported and participated in various events at the St. Ann's Club of Norwalk and the Societa Figli di Rose in Greenwich. He was an active member in the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Dominick was an avid New York Yankees fan his whole life. He will be remembered for his great love of music, especially the oldies, and doo-wop. He took great pride in his Italian ancestry. He enjoyed quiet Sunday family dinners, sipping on sambuca, and listening to Italian opera.
He is survived by his children Laurene (Christopher) of Redding, Michael of Bridgeport, and Dominick (Tammy) of Cherryfield, Maine. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Ava Racette of Redding, and Mathew Adams of Stamford. He is also survived by his younger brother Michael A. D'Andrea of Greenwich. He also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews along with his dear friend Sandy Champagne. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
To honor Dominick's life, family and friends will gather on Sunday, November 6 from 2-6pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 134 Hamilton Avenue, Greenwich, 203-869-5968. Memorial Mass on Monday, November 7 at 10:30am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Riverside. For more information or to place an online condolence, www.coxeandgraziano.com.
