Domitila "Tily" Ramos Martinez
October 6, 1932 – October 19, 2025
Domitila "Tily" Ramos Martinez, 93, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. Born on October 6, 1932, in Lares, Puerto Rico, she grew up in New York, where she worked various jobs, including as a hair stylist, to provide a loving home for her children, Rose Mary and Michael, alongside her first husband, the late Pablo Lopez.
Tily eventually settled in Aurora, Illinois, where she met her beloved husband, the late Manuel Martinez. They later made their home in Florida, where they spent many happy years raising their son Tony.
Known for her humor, energy, and warmth, Tily brought joy wherever she went. She loved cooking-especially her famous arroz con gandules-dancing with her family, taking walks, and always being in motion. She loved sweets, from pies and cookies to cakes and guava, and never passed up a good cup of coffee. Shopping for clothes was her favorite hobby, and she delighted in dressing up and feeling beautiful.
She remained close to her sisters throughout her life, whether it was going out to dinners, shopping, or gathering at their house for a lively game of bingo.
Tily was a woman of faith. Her relationship with God was important to her, and she demonstrated that faith through her love and kindness toward others. She attended El Faro in Kissimmee for many years, finding joy and fellowship in her church community.
More than anything, Tily loved her family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and often traveled back to Aurora to visit loved ones and fill the house with laughter and stories.
Survivors include two sons, Marco Antonio Martinez and Michael (Gloria) Lopez; one daughter, Rose Mary Martinez, wife of the late George Martinez; three sisters, Felita Ramos, Ines Ramos, and Irene Ramos; grandchildren Jeremiah, Ruth, Isaac, Elias, Desiree, Isaias, Jonathan, Eliseo, Michael Jr., Jennifer, Serena, Joel, Robert, Jislaine, and Evelyn; and many beautiful great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Martinez; parents, Carmelo Ramos and Rosa Torres; brothers, Julito, Severo "Vero," and Pedro; and sisters, Ana, Femia, and Maria "Loly."
Visitation will be held at Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place in Aurora, on Sunday, October 26, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a memorial service on Monday, October 27, at 10:00 a.m. Interment following the service will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Aurora.
Her sparkle, strength, faith, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." – Proverbs 31:25
