Don Wayne Ancelet, 83, of Crosby, Texas, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Don was born on October 2, 1942, in
Baytown, Texas, but moved to Louisiana as a small child, where he learned French as his first language. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
From an early age, Don faced the challenge of polio, yet he refused to let it define him. His resilience and spirit shone through as he enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1961. His military career ended with an Honorable discharge, and for over 50 years, he dedicated himself to his craft as a welder, earning respect and admiration. However, he devoted 100% of his love and commitment to his wife and children, which grew in God's bounty throughout the blessed years of his life. Don's immense love for family was boundless; he cherished every special moment spent with them-celebrating birthdays, graduations, family gatherings, cheering on grandchildren at games, and so many other special occasions. His unconditional love, support, and guidance created lasting memories that will forever be treasured. His zest for life and radiant, warm smile will be eternally etched in the memories of all who were fortunate to have known him.
Don shared a beautiful marriage with his late wife, Jean, filled with endless love, laughter, and a lifetime of joyous adventures. Their bond was a testament to devotion-together, they raised wonderful children and built a loving home filled with support and joy. They enjoyed shopping for antiques, remodeling homes, visiting loved ones, and traveling to new adventures. Their playful nature never faded, as they loved surprising each other with jokes and opportunities for good old-fashioned belly laughs, always walking hand-in hand with love and affection. Their enduring love and unity are an inspiration and will live on in our hearts.
With a gentle and caring demeanor, Don touched countless lives. He was a laid-back, soft-spoken man who generously gave his time to listen and support others. He never met a stranger and treated everyone with kindness and compassion. Over the years, he cultivated lifelong friendships and exemplified what it means to be "a great person." Whether providing a comforting hug, a helping hand, or supportive words, Don was always there for those in need-whether a child, grandchild, or friend.
Don is survived and deeply loved by his daughter, Paula Vera, and husband, Phil; son, Paul Ancelet, and wife, Heather; daughter, Donna Ancelet; stepson, Jeff Schamp; and stepdaughter, Karen White, and husband, Jimmy, along with numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ancelet; his parents, Ozone and Wynice Ancelet; his stepdaughter, Diane Valentine; his stepsons, Michael ("Mickey") Schamp and Phillip Schamp; and his sister, Brenda Poage.
The Ancelet family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our friends and families for the continuous prayers, kind words of comfort, flowers, food, and emotional support during this difficult time. Your compassion has meant the world to us.
