Don Armstrong, age 82, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on November 22, 2025 leaving behind a powerful legacy of faith, dedication, compassion, and unwavering love for his family and for God. His life was a testimony of service, humility, and steadfast commitment to sharing the gospel wherever he went.

Born in Buckhannon, West Virginia, Don was the son of the late Cecil Richard Armstrong and Hazel Kathleen (Rohr) Armstrong. Don spent most of his years in West Virginia, with meaningful seasons of life in Colorado, South Carolina, Ohio and Tennessee. In April 2025, he and his devoted wife, Sue, moved to Acworth, Georgia to begin a new chapter close to family.

One of Don's greatest accomplishments-and the foundation of his life's work-was earning his bachelor's degree in Ministerial Studies from Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The five years he spent pursuing this degree were transformative. It was there that Don's calling to ministry deepened, shaping a lifetime of preaching and leading others to Christ. During his time in Colorado, he also learned the drywall trade, a skill that became his professional livelihood for many years. Don became widely known for his craftsmanship, with work that reached across the state of West Virginia and even as far as Hawaii, where he helped drywall a new Nazarene church.

Don's heart was always rooted in ministry. He devoted his life to preaching the Word of God and was deeply involved in starting and supporting new churches within the Church of the Nazarene. Don would start the Ronceverte Church of the Nazarene, later becoming Greenbrier Valley in Lewisburg WV, Central Church of the Nazarene in Fairmont, WV and Valley View Church of the Nazarene in Jane Lew WV, started as a small store front gathering. Even after retiring, he continued speaking to people about Jesus every single day. During this time, he volunteered with Truckstop Ministry where he would share his passion for Jesus with those fellow truckers on the road. For Don, ministry was not something he did-it was who he was. His daily mission was to share the gospel of salvation and the hope he found in Christ.

Beyond his ministry, Don enjoyed a life full of adventure, and creativity. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, creating treasured memories in the wilderness of Colorado and West Virginia with friends and family. His hobbies included building and flying model airplanes, collecting antique bottles, reading and studying Scripture, writing and singing music, and sharing stories and humor with everyone around him. Don had a remarkable gift for comedy and was often invited to events to share his lighthearted humor. Music played a meaningful role in his life-he wrote numerous songs and proudly recorded three albums that reflected his faith and passion.

On December 23, 1964, Don married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Miller, in Buckhannon, West Virginia. What began as a young couple's dream grew into nearly 61 beautiful years of marriage, filled with love, dedication, ministry, and family. Together, Don and Sue raised four children who were the pride and joy of their life.

Don is survived by his cherished wife, Sue; his children and their spouses-Steve and Shari Armstrong, Donna and Ed Rollyson, Camie and Randy Owens, and Jon and Jenny Armstrong; and his beloved grandchildren: Sasha Keith, Shayne Armstrong, Andy Armstrong, Rob Howe, Ava Howe, Max Howe, Drew Howe, Darby Gagnon, Caleb Gagnon, and Jackson Armstrong. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Allyson Crowder, Lindsey Crowder, Wesley Coates, Nicholas Armstrong, Matthew Armstrong, and Sonny Armstrong, Kianna Vazquez, Gracelynn Vazquez, Blake Vazquez and Aubrey Vazquez and baby Armstrong on the way, each had a special place in his heart. Additionally, his surviving niece and nephews, cousins and some extended family.

Don is also survived by his siblings: his sister Avis Lavonne and her husband, Melvin Hager, and his brother Kenneth Freemont and his wife, Carol Ann Armstrong, along with their children who held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Richard and Hazel Kathleen Armstrong, and by his dear nephew, Randall Lee Armstrong, as well as many treasured aunts, uncles, and extended family members who enriched his life with stories, laughter, and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2025, at Valley View Church of the Nazarene, 1746 US Hwy 19 N, Jane Lew, WV. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM honoring Don's remarkable life, ministry, and legacy. A time of fellowship will follow the service as family and friends gather to remember, share stories, and celebrate the impact Don had on so many lives.
