Don Babcock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rundus Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 30, 2026.
Don J. Babcock, 73, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 20, 1952 to Kenneth R Babcock and Leona Rhodes Babcock in Snyder, Texas, the youngest of three siblings. On June 3, 1972, Don married the love of his life, Mary Cumba. They had three children-two sons and a daughter. They remained devoted to one another all the days of their life together.

In 1974, Don graduated from TSTI in Waco, Texas with an Associates Degree in Applied Science. He then started his career as an oil and gas draftsman, then became a computer graphics designer for claims consultants. In later years, he returned to oil and gas as a landman.

He remained curious and adventurous his whole life. He loved history, genealogy, music, traveling, hunting, and fishing. Most of all, he loved being with family and friends.

Don's life was anchored in a lifelong commitment to his Christian faith and a deep, personal relationship with Jesus. His vibrant faith shaped the way he loved, served, and showed up for others. He found great joy and peace in worship, where his heart was most at home, and he carried that spirit with him into everyday life. He was a steadfast member of Word of Life Christian Center for 30 years.

Above all else, Don was a family man. He shared a devoted life with Mary, whose partnership, love, and shared faith were at the center of everything he did. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, love, and service.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, and children, Matt Babcock (Lorna), Sarah Dudley (Michael), and Justin Babcock (Julie). Don was also a proud and loving grandfather to five grandsons, Connor and Shane Babcock and Ethan, Levi, and Andrew Dudley, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth & Leona Babcock, and siblings Sharon Bruns and Steve Babcock.

Don will be remembered for his steady presence, his generous heart, and the way he showed up for those he loved-faithfully, consistently, and without fanfare. His legacy lives on in the values he passed down, the faith he modeled, and the love that continues through his family.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Services will be held at 10:30am at Word of Life Christian Center in Lone Tree, CO on Friday, February 6th, 2026.
