Our beloved Chris was called home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2026.

Chris was born in San Antonio to William and Lorraine Babcock. He grew up there and cherished traveling across the United States on family vacations, both as a child and later as an adult. He graduated from Churchill High School in 1999 and earned a degree in Business Management from Texas State University in 2004.

Chris happily grew up in the company of many beloved pets, including cats, dogs, fish, mice, and even his own rat, Chuckie. He enjoyed participating in Scouting and played on numerous youth soccer, basketball, and swimming teams. He proudly performed as a cellist in the Driscoll Middle School and Churchill High School orchestras, and served his church as an acolyte, youth group member, and church camp attendee. As an adult, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, skeet shooting, bowling, and friendly games of pool and darts.

Many would say Chris was a man of few words and a gentle soul-and that certainly was true, unless you happened to be sitting next to him when Alex Trebek came on Jeopardy!. He loved trivia and delighted in exploring the obscure and unusual. His sense of humor was uniquely his own, with a fondness for The Three Stooges, the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, and the genius of Gary Larson, especially the humor, satire and black comedy of The Far Side.

Chris was kind and caring, with a sincere and abiding love for his family and friends. He will be remembered for his distinctive humor, his love of the obscure, and his strong loyalty to those he loved.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, William S. Babcock, and his brothers, William Babcock, Jr., and Andrew R. Babcock. He is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his mother, Lorraine; his sisters, Kelley, and Janiine; his extended family; and his many devoted and caring friends.
