Don Thomas Brooks, 88 a longtime resident of Channelview, Texas, passed away in Odem, Texas on October 18,2024. Born September 2,1936, to W.M. & Tennie Brooks in Houston, Texas, Don was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, father, and son. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas where he played the cornet in the band. Upon graduation Don served in the United Stated Coast Guard as a Damage Control man 3rd class & spent several more years in the Coast Guard Reserves. He worked many years as a welder & a fitter for Todd Shipyard & PetroTex Chemical Corporation. Later he became a valued employee at Harris County maintaining buildings & HVAC equipment. Don was a member of Channelview Assembly of God for many years and was currently attending Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Corpus Christi at the time of his passing. Don enjoyed good conversation, tinkering on things, playing the cornet, listening to music, working at the church, & serving God.
He is survived by his son Christopher Thomas Brooks and daughter-in-law Sylvia Cervantes Brooks, Geneva Brooks of Deer Park, Texas, brother Clayton and Anita Brooks of Channelview, Texas, and sister Shirley Brooks Painter of Baytown Texas.
Don is preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Anne Brooks Contreras of Pasadena Texas.
The Visitation will be held Thursday October 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM, with the Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 PM. The Interment will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veteran Cemetery.
