Sofia Sylvia Gonzalez, born on February 26, 1953, in Corpus Christi, Texas, went to be with her loving husband, on February 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy woven from love and kindness. A woman with a big heart, Sofia, “Tia Pia” as she’s lovingly known, dedicated her life to the happiness and wellbeing of her family and friends, always seeking to bring joy to those around her.

She met the love of her life, Julian Gonzalez, at the 1970 Buc Days Carnival. It was love at first sight – they married a short time later on December 18,1970. Together, they laughed, danced, and loved fiercely. Sweethearts in this life and the next, they raised four wonderful sons: Julian, Jr. (wife, Linda and son Julian, III), Eric, Greg (wife, Laurie and daughter, Alex and son, Matt), and Jacob (wife, Maria). Each of them carries forward her spirit of compassion and resilience, holding dear the values she instilled through her nurturing presence. Sofia’s unwavering support and boundless love shaped their lives in ways that will ripple through generations.

A skilled seamstress, Sofia had a knack for taking fabric and turning it into something extraordinary. Whether she was crafting a simple garment or working on intricate designs, her creations were imbued with her passion, a testament to her artistic soul. Cooking was another cherished hobby, where she expressed her love through delicious meals, welcoming anyone who crossed her threshold to partake in the warmth her kitchen emanated.

Sofia touched the lives of many, including her siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her laughter created a melody that lingered in the hearts of those she met. In every stitch and recipe, she left behind pieces of her essence, binding family and friends together in beautiful memories. Her home was a haven of love and acceptance, a place where everyone felt cherished and valued.
