Don Deese Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Shores Funeral Home - Panama City Beach on Mar. 13, 2026.
Don Eugene (Gene) Deese, age 80, of Panama City Beach, Florida passed away on March 9, 2026. He was born on February 1, 1946, in Bay County, Florida to the late David Wilmer Deese and Bertha Inez Deese.

Gene proudly served his country for two years in the United States Navy Seabees. Following his military service, he dedicated more than 30 years working in restaurant maintenance, where his strong work ethic and dependable nature were well known.

In his spare time, Gene had a passion for woodworking and took great pride in the things he created with his hands. He will be remembered most for his warm sense of humor, his kindness, and the deep love he had for his family and all of his children.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Newsome Deese; his son, Micah Lynn Deese, and daughter-in-law Melissa Blanchard Deese; and his cherished grandson, Wyatt Mitchell Deese. He is also survived by his brother Royce Lavon Deese of Bay County, Florida, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Wilmer Deese and Bertha Inez Deese, as well as three brothers and two sisters.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Woodlawn Church "We Care" Ministry in Gene's memory.

Gene lived his life guided by the words of his favorite scripture, Micah 6:8:

"He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God."

Gene will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
