Donald H. Ebert

Don Ebert, of Saline Michigan, died November 25, 2023 at the age of 94.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Myrtle Ebert; daughter, Katherine (Fred) Morath; sons, Paul (Lisa) and Richard (Cassiana); his grandchildren and other family and friends.
Don was born in Chicago on April 29, 1929 to Elsie and Henry Ebert. At an early age, he became fascinated by a crystal radio that his father gave him, sparking a lifelong interest in electronics and communications. He received a B.S. Electrical Engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and worked in the aerospace industry and in network communication systems. Highlights of his career include a first job at Bell Telephone Labs, development of a major report to the Navy on communications technology, participation in the development of equipment used on the Apollo lunar missions and design of the network for all the dormitories at Michigan State University.
In 1951, Don dedicated his life to Jesus Christ while listening to the preaching of Bishop Fulton Sheen. His faith and church participation were foundational to his life, that of his family and the context for some of his closest friendships.
Don enjoyed being with his family and friends and was blessed with close relationships with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed photography, Jazz and Classical music and amateur radio. He greatly enjoyed his time working for Michigan State University and became an avid Spartan. Other than this period in East Lansing, he was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 starting at 11:00 am.
