Don William Ernst, 88, of Shelbyville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

Don was a devoted longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shelbyville. He worked for many years for General Electric in Louisville. A proud and active part of the Shelby County community, he once owned a gun shop in Shelbyville and had a lifelong love of hunting. He was a dedicated farmer who raised cattle and took great pride in his work. Don was also an enthusiastic sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Cincinnati Reds and both UK and Louisville teams.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Ernst; and his brother Robert "Bud" Ernst.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Kaylor (Dan) of Troy, Ohio; his sons, Don Ernst of Florence, Kentucky, and John Ernst (Joanne) of Morehead, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Angie Kaylor (Ben Engebreth), Lisa Wolfe (Brent Shupp), Nick Ernst (Allie), Sonny Ernst, Ethan Ernst, and Mei-Ni Ernst; and his great grandchildren, Ella Wolfe, Kyle Shupp, and Ethan Shupp.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

Expressions of sympathy may be made out to the Centenary United Methodist Church.
