Mr. Don Edward Fletcher, Sr. was born January 16, 1957 in Temple, Texas to the late Lawrence Fletcher, Sr. and Fannie Mae Fletcher, the youngest of six children. He graduated from Temple High School and afterwards joined the U.S. Army.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Jacqueline Elaine Sanders in 1977 and to this union one son was born. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. Don served as President of the Usher Board while a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas and later joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under leadership of Senior Pastor, A.W. Preceding Don in death are his parents, Lawrence Fletcher, Sr. and Fannie Mae Fletcher.

Fletcher, Jr. (Brett) of Austin; three sisters, Glorious Sellers, Louise Barrow and Genice McDavid all of Temple; two brothers, Lawrence Fletcher, Jr. of Temple and Bishop Robert Fletcher, Sr. (Dorothy) of Killeen; two grandchildren, VonTayvius Murphy and BreAnn Fletcher; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 5900 Cameron Rd, Austin. The funeral service will begin on Friday at 11:00 am following the visitation. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas.

My dearest Cousin Elaine and "Man",
My heart goes out to you as you go through this difficult time in your lives. Please know that God will sustain you, and this too shall pass. Don was a wonderful husband and father who enjoyed life and lived life to the fullest. He was truly a genuine person that had an infectious smile that would brighten any room. It seems that he never met a strangerAnd ALWAYS exhibited a happy demeanor and a positive attitude, even as he was battling that evil disease. My hopes are that you both will choose to reminisce about the pleasant memories of Don. Know that I will continue to pray that God will provide strength to you both. We all loved Don, but GOD loved him best. Always remember John14:1-6.
Much love, cuz!

Elaine, do not think that I have forgotten you during my grieving – I have not. You are an extension of my brother and I love you just as much. We are both grieving with the same intensity, and we both know “…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5). Just keep your faith, give your burdens to the Lord and he will sustain you. Although Cookie is gone – It is the Lord's will and according to his purpose. It is not for us to understand – just trust and believe. I love you and family.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Don's passing. I never knew Don personally, but I've known Jackie for many years now through work and she always talked lovingly of Don and I knew from how she spoke of him what a great person he was. Jackie, words cannot say enough, but please know that my prayers and love go out to you, Don, Jr., and the rest of your family.
