Don Hostmeyer, age 73, of Breese, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital. He was born May 13, 1952, in Breese, the son of the late Alvin and Maxine, nee Foster, Hostmeyer. Don married Sandra, nee Schulte, Hostmeyer on May 17, 1975, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese.

In addition to his wife, Sandra, Don is survived by his children, Michael (Kristen) Hostmeyer and Angela (Ryan) Toennies, all of Jamestown; his beloved grandchildren, Shelbe (Cody Flynn) Hostmeyer, Drew (Adison Fritz) Hostmeyer, Jayden Toennies, and Kai Toennies; and his great-grandson, Bryson Reibold. He is also survived by his siblings, Wanda Cummins, Judy Ratermann, and Sandy (Dennis) French, all of Breese; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Maureen (Dennis) Albers of Breese, Malinda (Woody) Huels of Carlyle, Wayne (Marilyn) Schulte of Breese, Kris Schulte of Breese, and Lisa (Shawn) Reynolds of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marvin and Jane (née Venhaus) Schulte; and brothers-in-law, Robert Cummins, Larry Ratermann, Brad Schulte, and Brian Schulte.

Don retired from USF Holland Trucking after many years of dedicated service and previously worked with several other trucking companies. A member of Teamsters Local 600, he was also active in his community as a volunteer driver for Senior Renewal and a member of the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary.

Don enjoyed life's simple pleasures-golfing, camping, riding his motorcycle, and traveling-but above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson, who brought him endless joy.

A Celebration of Don's Life will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, after 2:00 p.m. at his home located at 187 S. Cherry St. in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the Breese Fire Department or the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
