Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moss Funeral Home, P.C. - Breese on Mar. 9, 2026.
Bob C. Netemeyer, age 72, of Albers, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL. He was born October 6, 1953, in Breese, the son of the late Clarence and Rita (née Schumacher) Netemeyer.

Robert married Melissa (née Henss) Netemeyer on June 23, 1978, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Trenton. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to their community.

In addition to his loving wife, Bob is survived by his children, Matt (Laurie) Netemeyer of Aviston, Karen (Nick) Schroeder of Albers, and Lauren (Steven) Weiss of Highland; his cherished grandchildren, Aubrey, Lily, and Lane Netemeyer, Landon, Mason, Chase, and Lyla Schroeder, and Stetson and Sloan Weiss; siblings, Kathe Cronin of St. Louis, MO, Mark (Roxanne) Netemeyer of Shawnee Mission, KS, Ed (JoAnn) Netemeyer of Albers, and Cindy (Mark) Wiegmann of Albers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sr. Margaret Anne Henss, PHJC of Donaldson, IN, Jackie (Gary) Weik of Grapevine, TX, Chuck (Cindi) Henss of Lee's Summit, MO, Janice (Dan) Wiegmann of New Baden, Mary (Bernell) Becker of Beckemeyer, Arnie (Linda) Henss of Breese, Maggie Peters of Albers, Paul (Barb) Henss of New Baden, John (Gail Wade) Henss of Breese, Mark (Lynn) Henss of Beckemeyer, Donna (Bob) Litteken of Trenton, and Diane "Fritz" (Steve) Maue of Aviston; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Wilma (née Wolf) Henss; sister-in-law, Mary Henss; niece, Aimee Henss; and great-nephew, Gary "Tripp" Kharibian.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He attended Parks University where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. Professionally, Bob worked for the United States Transportation Command, where he served as Chief of Lessons Learned. He retired in 2009 after many years of dedicated service.

Bob was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers and the Albers American Legion Post 1026, where he served as a past chaplain. He was also deeply involved in his community, serving as a former member of the Albers School Board, the Albers Zoning Commission, and the Clinton County Board. He was a current member of the Veterans Tribute at Kaskaskia College and a member of the "Tee'd Off with ALS" committee.

Bob treasured time spent with family. He enjoyed Sunday horse and buggy rides, attending Saturday night Mass, and gathering with family and friends at his clubhouse. Some of his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren swim, attending their sporting events, and spending time with them whenever possible.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Fr. Matthew Elie presiding and Deacon Kevin Templin and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer assisting. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 8:30 – 10:15 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Mater Dei Catholic High School, Tee'd Off with ALS, or the Kaskaskia College Foundation Jim Beasley Veterans Tribute and will be received at the visitation or by mail to Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
