With heartfelt sorrow and fond memories, we mourn the passing of Don O. House, a cherished husband, devoted father, and pillar of his community. Don peacefully departed from this world on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, at the age of 89.
Don's journey began on December 15th, 1934, in Clovis, New Mexico, where he was welcomed by his parents, Tom and Gladys (Gregory) House. He pursued his education at Eastern New Mexico University and the University of New Mexico, laying the foundation for a lifetime of dedication and hard work.
On June 5th, 1955, Don exchanged vows with the love of his life, Pansy W. Ellerd, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that spanned nearly seven decades. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising a daughter, Sonja, and a son, Kevin, with boundless love and unwavering devotion.
For 36 years, Don poured his passion into his craft as the proud owner and operator of House and Son Welding and Machine Shop in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Yet, beyond his professional endeavors, Don's true treasures were found in the warmth of his family life.
Don loved woodworking and fishing, enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. His faith was the foundation of his life, evident in his dedicated study of the Bible and his selfless service as a Sunday School teacher and deacon in his local church. Don's expansive religious library stood as a testament to his insatiable thirst for knowledge and his commitment to his faith.
As we bid farewell to Don, we take comfort in the enduring love and memories he leaves behind. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Gladys, and his sister, Rejina Southard. Don's spirit lives on through his devoted wife, Pansy, his beloved children, Sonja Watts and her husband Terry Watts of Oklahoma and Kevin House and his wife Tamara House of Arizona, and his cherished grandsons, Kyle Watts and his wife Cassandra Watts of Oklahoma and Aaron House of Arizona.
A graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wed., May 8, 2024 in the Portales Cemetery.
