Don Edward Jones (73) passed away on November 6th, 2025, in Clarkia, Idaho. He was born in Richwood, WV on June 11, 1952, to Earl Edward Jones and Juanita Helen Elders. Don joined the US Army in 1969 at 17 years old and was deployed to Vietnam as an E1. He ended his military career in 1971 as an E5 Specialist. He was always proud to call himself a Veteran.

Don soon made Idaho his home, living in Pinehurst, with his wife, Mary. They had 3 children: Mary "Mimi", Earl "Slim", and Dawn "Sis". They later divorced in 1982. Don spent several years in Alaska, enjoying all the beautiful people and scenery. He married Janell Marts on August 10, 2012, and the couple moved to Fernwood, Idaho. Sadly, Janell passed away in 2017.

An avid outdoorsman, Don spent his life enjoying the outdoors fishing, hunting, and being in the woods. He also spent his time fascinating over the legendary Bigfoot and always spoke of how he was going to find it one day. Don passed away on a hunting trip with a good friend; he went out doing what he loved.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Juanita Jones; 2 sisters, Cathy Carol and Charlene Marie; and his uncle, Bob Elders. He is survived by his stepfather, Mel Woltering; his children, Mimi, Slim, and Sis (John); multiple grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and great grandchildren. Don was especially fond of his nephew Robert, who was his main hunting partner and travel buddy, enjoying gun shows, trips for good deals, and lots of seafood buffets. His grandson, Nic, was also very special to him. Nic helped him out around his property, talking and tinkering on cars together.

Military Honors will be presented on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Veteran's Memorial in Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, ID. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am at the Eagles Lodge with a gathering after services for family and friends to share a meal.
