Don Jorgensen, 75, of Sparks, Nevada, died on November 28 th , 2025, after a protracted illness. He was born the second of five children to Andrew and Philomena Jorgensen on June 24 th , 1950, in Chicago, IL. He attended St. Rita High School in Chicago and then Quincy College, Quincy, IL. He graduated with a degree in History in 1972. He then worked in the Criminal Justice Division of the City of Chicago. He was subsequently employed by the State of Wyoming in various positions related to social services. After that he continued in Mental Health Services including being the manager of a group home for troubled youth. At this time he met his future wife, Kim, who was also devoted to serving persons in need. Their interest in helping others moved both of them to complete Masters in Social Work at the University of Denver. This led Don to be a professional counselor for the rest of his life. For many years he worked in private practice in Madison, Wisconsin, and was also employed by Monroe, WI Hospital in their outpatient clinic. His career continued upon his move to Nevada a few years ago.
Don is survived by his wife Kim McCann Jorgensen of 37 years and loving sons Thayer and Ian. Also surviving are his siblings Andrew (Kathy), Douglas (Denise), David (Mary) and Debbie, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for a later date at which time his remains will be interred near those of his parents in the Chicago Area.
Don was known for his always pleasant and upbeat personality, always having something positive to say to everyone. He will be greatly missed by members of his family, his great
number of friends, and the many, many clients he has helped over an almost 40-year career.
Donations in Don's honor may be given to the Philomena R. Jorgensen Scholarship at Quincy
University.
