Don Kumpf Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brater-Winter Funeral Home (Sayler Park) on Jan. 21, 2026.
DATE CHANGED

Donald J. Kumpf, a beloved resident of Sayler Park, is set to leave us all with cherished memories as he passes away on January 18, 2026. Born on October 18, 1967, in Cincinnati, Don was a true local. He proudly graduated from Elder High School before heading to ITT, where he honed his skills in drafting.

For many years, Don worked as a CAD drawer at Kerkan Roofing, a job he engaged in with dedication. On weekends, he could be found bringing joy to others at Aston Oaks, whether serving up delicious omelets at the Sunday omelet station or helping out in the pro shop. Known for his quick wit and sometimes called "Mr. Grumpy Pants," those who really knew him appreciated the warmth and love that hid behind that gruff exterior.

Don was not just a brother to David Kumpf; he was a rock, a mentor, and a fantastic uncle to Benjamin and Nicholas. His presence lit up the family gatherings, from attending sports events to celebrating birthdays and those staple Friday night firepit gatherings. Don had a passion for fantasy football and held season tickets to the Bengals, where he cheered on his team with gusto.

He leaves behind his brother, David; his cherished nephews, Benjamin and Nicholas; and a cascade of extended family and friends who were fortunate to be part of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Sr. and Mary Alice Kumpf and sister-in-law Danielle Kumpf.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Aston Oaks Country Club from 2 PM to 5 PM, with words of remembrance beginning at 4 PM. It's a time to come together, share laughter, and recall the countless memories created with Don.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates any memorials made to Danielle Kumpf Memorial fund at First financial bank. Let us honor the life of this wonderful man who enriched the lives of so many.
