Don Oline Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cooney Funeral Home - Park Ridge on Mar. 4, 2026.
Don Herbert Oline was born September 8,1935 in Davenport, Iowa. He relocated to St. Charles, Illinois in 1953, then made his home in Chicago in 1956. He was a 20-year employee of Washington National Insurance Company in Evanston, Illinois. He enjoyed several years residing in Las Vegas before returning to Chicago in 2002. Don was an avid sports afficionado. He had a special passion for cheering on his beloved Chicago Blackhawks. After caddying as a young boy, he also developed a love of golf – playing and following – well into his 80s. Don was known for his sense of humor, dry wit, and storytelling. Don is preceded in death by his parents Bert and Helen Oline, former wife Susan Oline, brother Richard Oline, and sister-in-law Jean Oline. Survived by long-time companion Mary Borrelli. Loving father of Terry (Jamie) Oline, Kathryn (Rob) Swarczewski, Tom Oline, Carole (Alan) McCarthy, and Donna (Tom) Oline. Proud grandfather of Sarah (Matt), Billy (Sarah), Caitlin (Pedro), Elizabeth (Alex), Matt, Andrew, Brian, Clare (Matt), Patrick and Sean. Don delighted in his great-grandchildren Joe, Abbie, Will and Thomas. He was also a loyal uncle to Erik, Mark (Rebecca), and Kirk (Kim), and a devoted friend to many.
