Donnie Odell “Don” Patterson, passed away on Friday morning, November 8, 2024, in Meeker, Oklahoma at the age of 87. Don was born on August 1, 1937, in Davenport, Oklahoma, to John E. and Leona Pearl (Acord) Patterson. He married Alice Irene Danker on November 19, 1955, in Chandler, Oklahoma. Don had many jobs during his life, including in the roofing, oilfield and agriculture lending fields, but he also owned and operated a dairy for many years and always raised beef cattle; farming/ranching was always his true passion. He enjoyed his years as a professional steer wrestler in the PRCA rodeos and loved working with horses even after he retired from rodeoing. Don was of the Baptist faith, previously attending Sparks Baptist Church as a child and later Forest Baptist Church in Chandler.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Patterson; two brothers, Bill and Tommy; and three sisters, Freda Levisay, Eulene Phillips and Carol Ward.

Don is survived by his wife, Alice, of nearly 69 years; four children: LaDonna Patterson-Gidney and her partner, Charles Ashcraft; Cliff Patterson, Myrna Patterson-Beasler, and Clint Patterson and his wife, Darsi; seven grandchildren: Brett Gidney, Billie (Trey) Harris and wife, Summer, Matthew Gidney, Nikki Beasler, Jordan (Patterson) Sullins and husband, Garrett; Josie (Patterson) Reed and husband, Hunter; and Kyle Earhart and wife, Kristen and their two children Ruth and Jack; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Don’s family requests donations be made to Sparks Nutrition Site, P.O. Box 148, Sparks, OK 74869.

A special thank you to all of the Meeker Nursing Center staff and the Luminos Hospice staff for the kindness and dedication they showed while caring for Don in this difficult time.
