Roy Sherman Loy completed his earthly journey on February 20, 2026, in his home, surrounded by the warmth and presence of the family he adored. A long-time resident of Meeker, Oklahoma, Roy passed away at the age of 85 from cancer.
Roy was born on May 19, 1940, in Woodlake, California, to Daniel Columbus and Leona Gertrude (Aker) Loy. The family relocated to Meeker, Oklahoma, where Roy attended grade school. They eventually moved to Chandler, where he played football, met the love of his life, Sharon Coy, and graduated from Chandler High School in 1958. Roy married Sharon on July 18, 1958, in her family’s home in Chandler.
He was a man defined by his tireless work ethic and his deep love for his family and his Meeker community. Roy began his career as a mechanic immediately after high school. He owned and operated Loy’s Auto in Meeker for over 50 years, with his sons working by his side. He retired in February 2025, but Roy continued working on cars and working on his farm until an injury slowed him down in November 2025. He especially adored his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—lovingly known as “his babies”—and treasured every moment spent with them. He spent his younger years riding motorcycles, snow skiing, and water skiing with his family, teaching them to work hard and enjoy life. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Leona Loy; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sharon Loy; his children, Scott Loy, Michelle (Loy) Day, and Marc Loy and his wife, Randi; his brother, Joe Loy; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other extended family members and friends.
