Oklahoma City resident Joyce Kay McDougal, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at her home.

Joyce was born July 20, 1947, in Seminole to Willis and Ollie (Raper) Barnes. She was raised on the family farm, a place she dearly loved throughout her life. The farm and the strength of her family remained a constant source of comfort and support, especially during difficult seasons.

Joyce worked for the United States Postal Service at the main distribution center in Oklahoma City for 27 years. During her time with the USPS, she met the love of her life, Floyd Payne, and they were blessed with 35 wonderful years together.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Joyce’s children and grandbabies were her everything. She treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in her growing family. She was a good Christian woman whose faith guided her life. Though illness kept her from attending church in recent years, her faith remained strong.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Marie Barnes; one sister, Maxine Barnes Kapp; and two brothers-in-law, George Anderson and Phillip Kapp.

Joyce is survived by her beloved companion, Floyd Payne, of the home; her children, Mark McDougal and Angie of Cashion, Oklahoma; Mike McDougal and Tina of Chandler, Oklahoma; Pam McDougal Carmichael and Jeff of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Andera Payne Connelly and Ian of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Aaron Payne and Miracle of Owasso, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Barnes Anderson of Shelton, Washington, and Treasa Barnes Hendricks and Jimmy of Seminole; brother and sister-in-law, Don Barnes and Charlotte, of Lacey, Washington; along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, with Cindy Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Joyce will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
