Don was one of a kind. I loved everything about the man. We first met in July 1976 at PSI, located in Houston, and continued to stay connected. His sense of humor was legendary. In the last few years, I smile to myself remembering our conversations, we were always laughing....May he be slowly sipping his scotch on the rocks and heading to Las Vegas to catch up with his long time friends.

Don,
Thank you for your friendship and the kindness you showed me. You will be missed and always remembered. I had the pleasure of working with Don, and he always made it fun. He taught me things beyond work - especially the importance of giving back. He and his two sons volunteered at local soup kitchens and homeless shelters during the holidays, which is something I will always admire and remember about him. Above all, he always put family first.

Don Saltzburg was woven into my life from the very beginning. As a child, he and his beloved mom lived with us from '52-'54, and I remember having a little brother around-someone whose presence simply felt right. That sense of connection never left.
As adults, life took us to different places, but it never truly pulled us apart. When I worked in the Houston area, we met for lunch and picked up right where we´d left off. Years later, there were dinners in Chicago, and again in Florida-proof that time and distance had no power over the bond we shared. Even when years passed between visits, the connection was always there, steady and familiar.
When Don received his diagnosis, our relationship deepened in a new way. We talked nurse-to-cousin, heart-to-heart-about treatment plans, expectations, and the unknowns ahead. Early on, he trusted me with access to his plan of care, and through many phone calls, we shared thoughts, questions, and reflections. Those conversations were honest, brave, and filled with mutual respect.
Don was one of the good guys. A mensch in the truest sense-kind, thoughtful, decent, and deeply human. He brought warmth into every space he entered and left people better for having known him. He was a joy, and he will always hold a special place in my heart. With love from Sharon and Stephen Weinstein
