DES MOINES-Don Edward Sanchez, age 73, of Des Moines, died Sunday, January 4, 2026, at his home.
Don was born January 29, 1952, in Ottumwa, the son of Don F. and Norma (Liggett) Sanchez. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1970 and attended Indian Hills Community College. Don lived in Florida and Texas before moving to Des Moines about 20 years ago. He worked in the Home Mortgage Department at Wells Fargo in Des Moines. Don’s great passion was fantasy football.
Survivors include his mother: Norma Sanchez of Martinsburg; sister: Joyce Sanchez of Hedrick; brother: Michael (Sheri) Sanchez of Geneva, Illinois; aunt: Vickie (Jess) Terrell of Martinsburg; niece: Heather Knight of Ottumwa; nephew: Adam (Abby) Sanchez of Williamsburg and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Don F. Sanchez; grandparents: William and Mary Sanchez and Lloyd and Kathryn Liggett and uncles and aunts: Ed and Janice Liggett and Lyle and Joyce Sauer.
Per Don’s wishes, his body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
