Don Senchal Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 21, 2025.
Don Raymond Senchal, Sr. peacefully entered his heavenly home at 6:20 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on October 19, 1938, in Houston, Texas.

Don was swept off his feet by the love of his life, LaNelle McCracken, and together they shared a remarkable 66-year journey of love and devotion.

He began his career at Todd Shipyards as a production coordinator and rose through the ranks to become general manager of both Todd Houston and Todd Galveston divisions. He retired after thirty years of dedicated service. During this time, he developed a reputation in the shipping industry as one who could deliver on difficult and challenging projects throughout the Gulf Coast and South America.

Known far and wide as a builder, Don created things to last. He built their home on Magnolia Road, which has withstood countless storms and fallen trees. Yet, his most important and enduring construction project was the strong and loving family he and LaNelle built together.

Don is survived by his loving wife, LaNelle, and their children, Don Raymond Senchal Jr. and wife Tami, Kym Rashall and husband Brent, and Kenneth Senchal and wife Angie.

He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and their spouses, Kara and Blake Long, Braylan and Adrianne Senchal, Kendall and Haley Senchal, Logan and Kayla Rashall, BreAnna and Devin Asher, and Kenzie and Paris Marquez.

Don was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren.

He now rejoins his beloved daughter, Cindy Emmons, who preceded him in death thirteen years ago. He also leaves behind Will Emmons, whom he loved as a son.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Thelma Senchal, his brother Tommy, and the aunt and uncle who raised him during his formative years, Gussie and Russell Allen.

A memorial service will be held at Caney Creek Apostolic Tabernacle, where Don was a faithful member for nearly three decades and served alongside Pastor Clark as a board member and trustee. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by a celebration of life at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Interment to follow at Brookside Memorial Park

Pallbearers will be Braylan Senchal, Kendall Senchal, Logan Rashall, Blake Long, Devin Asher, Paris Marquez, William Emmons, and Kenneth Holman.

Honorary Pallbearers are the board members of Caney Creek Apostolic Tabernacle.
