Don Sigmon, 55, passed away peacefully in his sleep July 11th 2024 at his home in Kodiak, Alaska in bed beside his loving wife, Sharon, of 28 years. He was a caring husband and beloved father, son, brother, and grandfather.
Don was born in Springdale, Arkansas January 10th, 1969 to Dan Sigmon and Joan McGarrah. He was raised, and lived, in northwest Arkansas for most of his life where he raised three sons of his own Zachary, Cody, and Brady Sigmon, before moving to Bethel, Alaska in 2005 and ultimately to Kodiak, Alaska in 2013.
He was a man of tremendous work ethic, both professionally and personally. He spent many years as a brick mason, and spent his latter years working for GCI, a telecommunications corporation in Alaska. Outside of his professional career, Don loved fishing, growing things, wood working, sailing, fixing/building things, and almost anything outdoors that he could work with his hands. There wasn't much he couldn't do, and he would take the time to teach his kids how too, as well as anyone who needed it.
Behind his rough exterior and calloused hands, he was a gentle soul with a big heart, who always wanted to do the right thing. He always made time for his family and friends whether it was playing games, reading, watching shows and movies, helping them with projects, teaching life lessons, or just singing old country songs while he worked. He brought more light into this world than he probably realized, and it will be much dimmer without him.
He is survived by his Wife: Sharon Sigmon, Mother: Joan McGarrah. Father: Dan Sigmon, Sister: Sandra Moore, Brothers: Danny and Scott Sigmon, Children: Zachary, Cody, and Brady Sigmon, Step-Children: Jakob, Rebecca, and Emily as well as several cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Don's life Saturday July 27th at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel 705 W Meadow Ave, Springdale, AR 72764. In lieu of flowers, please bring your favorite short story about Don and we will be reading them before placing them in a bottle and sending the memories on a final journey into the ocean from his favorite place, Alaska.
