Don was my next door neighbor. I´ll always remember him enjoying his days on the back glassed in porch and his love for going out and feeding the squirrels and birds. My fondest memory of Don is when I helped him one night with Jan. It was my first time sitting at the DR table with him and Jan and really getting to know my neighbors. We visited for hours. After that, I enjoyed sharing Thanksgiving dinner w/ them and warm pumpkin pie, and after Jan passed, taking Don hot breakfast bc I always made enough to feed an army, and he loved my fresh hot out of the oven cinnamon rolls. He wasnt big on small talk, and loved his cat Smokey. He was always generous in lending us a hand or letting us borrow his ladder. I enjoyed most listening to him and Jan tell me their story about how they met and where Jan was from. Such nice people, and best neighbors one could ask for. Don checked his mail and did things for as long as he could. When Id offer to help he would say he got it. Very independent. I hope he enjoyed our last visit together with the kids. Im forever thankful we had that last few minutes with him. I didnt know it would be our last. I´m happy he got to stay at home in his final days. He had had a stay at a nursing home and when I visited him it was so out of character - He wanted to be back home and w/ Smokey...and it was always a pleasure to look over and see him home again. Now he´s home in heaven. When Mrs. Severan told me and shared all their fond memories together when her in laws were neighbors before me, I cried. It´s funny how we think people will live on forever. Don will always have a special place in our hearts. I´ll miss him. God rest his soul, until I see you and Jan again, Love, Carla Mustard & the kiddos.
