Dona Mae Parker, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2025, at the age of 87 after a long illness.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Sue Chenenko and Dona O. Walters; her grandchildren, Lauren Marie Walters, Brian Walters, Tricia Walters, and Jason Michael Chenenko; and her great-grandchildren, Raegan Taylor, Zoe Taylor, Ethan Taylor, and Jonathon Keegan. She is also survived by her brother, Gregory Whiles, and her former husband and current partner, Gilbert Orozco.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Eldean Parker Sr., and her brothers, Daniel Whiles, Rosco Whiles, and Robert Whiles.
Dona was best known for her distinguished career as a realtor in Dover, Delaware. Before entering real estate, she and her husband, Archie Parker, owned and operated Parker's Thriftway grocery stores in Middletown and Georgetown, Delaware, and Pocomoke City, Maryland.
Known for her outgoing and engaging personality, Dona was an avid reader and an accomplished bowler. She loved to travel, cherished time with friends and family, and had a deep affection for animals-rescuing many and welcoming strays into her home. Her generosity extended to volunteering with the Girl Scouts and helping those in need.
Dona Mae Parker will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
A funeral will be held on Friday, December 19th, at 2:30 pm, with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm, at Torbert Home for Funeral, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
