William Clark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Inc. on Mar. 20, 2026.
William James Clark, Sr, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on March 15, 2026 at the Center at Eden Hill in Dover, Delaware.

He was born September 15, 1935 in Dover, Delaware, a son of the late Durant and Mary Price Clark. He was the third youngest of 13 children. Family and friends call him "Jim."

After marrying his sweetheart Drucilla Lynch, they started a family. They both accepted the Lord as their Savior on the same day in 1968. Through the years they both served the Lord in their church.

In the 1970's, Jim served as a church bus driver, teacher, and deacon at Middletown Baptist Church. In 1981, Jim answered God's call to be a pastor. He and his family moved to Chesapeake, Virginia. He attended Tabernacle Baptist Bible Institute (now called Tabernacle Baptist Bible College) for seminary and graduated in 1985. He was ordained in 1987 at Grace Baptist Church. He then took a position as pastor at Renick Baptist Church in Renick, West Virginia. Later, he was called to serve as pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Smyrna, Delaware. He also served as chaplain at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna. He led several nursing home Bible studies throughout the many years.

After retiring from full time ministry, he continued leading Bible studies, going on visitation, and helping in the church where they attended. At Jim's passing he was a member at Ward's Hill Baptist Church in Warwick, Maryland.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Drucilla; children William (Janith Asbury) and Constance (John Copeland); and grandchildren Amber (Ethan Harbin), Ashley (Joe Munguia), Corey (Elizabeth Hoke) and Bethany Copeland.
