Gerrick Antonio Wharton, the beloved son of Gerald and Deborah Wharton, was born on March 9, 1990, in
Nassawadox, Virginia. He entered eternal rest on January 22, 2026, at Christiana Care Hospital in
Newark, Delaware. At the age of 35, Gerrick left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep connection with those who knew him best. Gerrick lived with sincerity, heart, and a spirit that engendered a lasting impression.
Gerrick valued learning and personal growth. He was a proud graduate of Arcadia High School, class of 2008. He went on to pursue his education at the Eastern Shore Community College, where he earned his Associate's Degree in Applied Science with a Major in Management and a Specialization in Information Systems Technology. He was proud of his accomplishments and carried the lessons he learned into both his personal and professional life, always striving to better himself and support those around him.
Gerrick worked at DHL in Dover, Delaware as a forklift operator before working his way up to a shift supervisor position at Proctor & Gamble. He took great pride in his work and was especially valued for the genuine relationships he formed. Gerrick shared a special bond with his employees, supervisors, and managers, and he was admired not only for his leadership, but for the care and respect he showed to everyone around him.
At a young age, Gerrick attended St. Mark United Methodist Church, where he shared his love of music as a choir member. Singing was one of the many ways he expressed his faith and connected with others. He had a few favorite songs: Trouble Don't Last Always and Come on in the Room, which he always sang with his grandmother.
Gerrick had a way of making people feel seen and valued. Whether through his sense of humor, his kindness, or simply being present, he touched lives in ways that will never be forgotten. He loved music, family time, sports, helping others, and he gave his love freely to the people who mattered most to him.
Gerrick was preceded in death by his Grandparents, William Wharton, William and Adell Davis; Uncle, Dallas Davis; Special Friends, Bobby Ballard and Chavez (Chad) Holden.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories his Parents, Gerald Sr. and Deborah Wharton of
Parksley, VA; his Brother Gerald Jr. (Latoya) Wharton of
