Reginald's Journey

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; And whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. Believest thou this?"

- John 11:25–26 KJV

Reginald Taylor Collins, the son of the late Anthony Douglas and Helen Ross Collins, was born Sunday, February 2, 1941, in Accomack County. Reginald boarded an afternoon flight and entered into eternal rest at Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Virginia, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He was reared in the area of his birth and educated in the public schools of Accomack County.

Realizing at an early age that he had a soul to save, he was converted, baptized, and joined the Holy Trinity Baptist Church and remained faithful until he relocated to New York. Reginald reconnected with Holy Trinity after retiring and returning to the Eastern Shore, attending regularly until his health failed.

His productive years were spent working for the New York Medical Examiner, and as a Dietitian at Saint Lawrence Hospital in New York. He possessed inner strength. The low points of his life were met with courage and faith that God would see him through.

Reginald enjoyed going to the baseball games, especially to see the Dodgers and the New York Yankees play, listening to old school music, and watching the New York Giants football games. He loved to talk and interact with his great-great nephews Malique and Zorion, whom he called his "GO BOYS," and Jerome and Eric who used to be his riding buddies. Whenever someone came to see him, he would always ask, "DID YOU BRING ME SOME DO-RAY-ME OR SOME GREEN AND WHERE'S EIGHTY?"

Preceding him in death are his parents, Anthony Douglas and Helen Ross Collins; sister, Jean Collins Johnson; and brothers, Paul and Benjamin Collins.

Rejoicing in his triumphant victory are his niece Sharon Collins (Alfred) Gray and Tony (Annette) Collins, whom he had adopted as his children; his sister Vivian Hack; brothers Vernon and Richard Collins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, and the Eastern Shore Community.
