Frederick James "Freddie" Core

Frederick James Core entered eternal rest on February 7, 2026, at the age of 75, in Salisbury, Maryland. He was born on March 31, 1950, in Wattsville, Virginia, to the late Willie Edward Core and Mary Grace Taylor.

Freddie was educated in the Accomack County Public School System and later attended Job Corps.

He was a dedicated and hardworking man who was employed for many years at Perdue Farms. After retiring from Perdue Farms, Freddie continued working with the Ocean City, Maryland Sanitation Department and cleaning staff, where he truly loved his job.

Freddie was raised in the church by his Uncle Duke Taylor and Aunt Georgia Taylor of Atlantic, Virginia, following the loss of his father, Willie Core.

Freddie loved spending time with family and friends, especially around the holidays. He also enjoyed going out on the town with his lifelong companion, Cynthia Bland, and attending concerts featuring his favorite R&B artists, including Keith Sweat and others. He was a die-hard fan of the Baltimore Ravens. Freddie loved seafood and good home-cooked meals.

During the summertime, he loved throwing cookouts for family and friends, going live on Facebook to DJ and set the soundtrack for the good times. You could often find him in "Freddie's Boom-Boom Room" playing his tunes. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Freddie's favorite music was oldies but goodies, and he enjoyed playing honky-tonk music on his guitar. He also loved playing horseshoes and watching wrestling.

He was a devoted brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. Freddie knew everyone, and everyone knew him.

Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Edward Core and Mary Grace Taylor, and his brothers, Clarence and Herbert Core.

He leaves to cherish his memory his dear wife, Deedra Core; his loving sisters, Carrie Core Brooks of Cheriton, Virginia, and Dr. Mary Crenshaw of Alexandria, Virginia; four children, Jennifer Cropper of Pocomoke, Maryland, Nicole Core of Pocomoke, Maryland, Marlo Core of Salisbury, Maryland and Michael Townsend of Salisbury, Maryland; one stepdaughter, Nakisa Maddrey; grandchildren, Khamari Parker, Ni'Kiyah Palmer, Jay'Quan Ayres, Mariah Harmon, and Reina Esquivel; great-grandchildren, Jayriah Harmon, Lamayah Harmon, and Demayah Harmon; companion, Cynthia Bland of Salisbury, Maryland; his beloved pet cat, Toby; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
