John Alexander Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eastern Shore Cremation and Funeral Service on Mar. 15, 2026.
John Alexander, 47, of Salisbury, Maryland, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 9, 1979, to William "Bill" Alexander and Faye Alexander, John lived a life filled with laughter, loyalty, and deep love for those closest to him.

John was a proud graduate of James M. Bennett High School, Class of 1997, where he played soccer as the team's goalie. He continued his education at Salisbury University, graduating in 2002 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice.

John spent much of his career working in the restaurant industry, where his passion for food, people, and storytelling naturally came together. Most recently, "Big John" worked at Adam's Taphouse and Grille, where he was known and loved by coworkers and patrons alike.

Above all else, John was devoted to his family. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Melissa, whom he loved deeply until his very last breath. He was an incredibly proud father to his son, Braiden Anthony Alexander, lovingly known as "Braidy." Some of John's happiest moments were spent cheering from the sidelines at Braiden's football and lacrosse games or watching soccer together at home. He also cherished trips to Baltimore Ravens games with his son Braidy, his brother Mark, and his father Bill, making memories that will be treasured forever.

John had a larger-than-life presence. A jolly giant with a warm heart, he was known for his big hugs, his funny stories, and the kind of personality that filled a room. He loved to cook-something he had done throughout his life working in restaurants-and nothing made him happier than sharing good food with people he cared about. John was the kind of friend who always had your back, the kind of man who made everyone feel welcome, and someone who carried his humor and kindness with him until the very end.

In the pages of John's notebook, his family discovered the words of the 23rd Psalm written in his own hand-a quiet reflection of the faith and peace he carried in his heart.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa Toni Alexander; his son, Braiden Anthony Alexander; his parents, William "Bill" and Faye Alexander; his brother, Mark Alexander, and his wife, Brittany; and his beloved pet, Gunny. He is also survived by his in-laws, Mike and Janice Chance; his brother-in-law, Stephen Chance, and his wife, Ashley Chance; and their children, Seth, Ryatt, and Eris, to whom John was a wonderful and loving uncle. John is further survived by extended family on his father's side, including his uncle Robert "Bob" Alexander and his wife, Brenda, and their daughters, Victoria and Melissa.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church on Monday, March 23. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM. For those who have asked how they can honor John, continued donations through the fundraiser created during his care will go toward Braiden's future college fund-something that meant a great deal to John and a meaningful way to continue supporting the family he loved so much. John's love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
