Hallie Christopher Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Hallie Mae Collins Christopher

Mrs. Hallie Mae Collins Christopher, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 12, 2026, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, Virginia at the blessed age of 88 years old.

Hallie was born on July 5, 1937, in Hopeton, Virginia, to the late Beatrice Milbourne and James Collins. She was raised in Accomack County, where she developed the strong values of faith, family, and hard work that would guide her throughout her life.

In 1967, Hallie dedicated her life to Christ, a decision that shaped her journey and defined her spirit. She later became a devoted member of New Metompkin Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the usher minis-try. A true woman of God, she found joy in praising Him-often singing hymns throughout her home and dancing in celebration of His goodness until her very last days.

Hallie Mae was united in love and marriage to her devoted husband, Dalton Christopher, on July 3, 1992. Together, they shared 33 wonderful years of companionship, laughter, and unwavering support.

She worked diligently as a cafeteria worker at Perdue Farms, where she was known for her strong work ethic and warm presence.

Hallie Mae found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking meals for her family, keeping a tidy home, tending to her garden, and enjoying WWE wrestling alongside her husband. She cherished family time, especially luncheons on Chincoteague with her sister and daughters, and scenic car rides where she could take in the beauty around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Milbourne and James Collins; her daughter, Ada Harris; her son, Broadus Mason Sr.; her brother, Mitchell Crosell; and her sister, Melvina Woods.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted husband, Dalton Christopher; her twin sister, Minnie Ridley (William); and her children, Elnora Mason, Shirley Jackson (Gary), and Walter Mason (Helen). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Alexis, Nichole, Shirkea, Marvin, Katilya, Waltasia, Hakeem, Keshell, Chris, Broadus Jr., Marcus, Travis, and Curtis, and a treasured great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her in-laws Wardell, Lenny, and Philippa; her cherished "sisters," Sarah Corbin, Karen Waters, and Phyllis Garvin; and her special friends, Lenora Johnson and her "Bodyguard" Oatie.

Hallie Mae will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her joyful spirit, her loving heart, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her legacy of love, strength, and praise will live on in all who knew her.
