Dona Cheryl Weber
May 16, 1938 – December 18, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dona Cheryl Weber, age 87, on December 18, 2025, in Tacoma, Washington. Born on May 16, 1938, in Glasgow, Montana, Dona lived a life marked by dedication, generosity, and deep love for her family.
Dona was raised in Spokane, Washington, in the Catholic faith. She attended St. Pascal’s Elementary School and was a 1956 graduate of West Valley High School. Throughout her life, her faith remained important to her. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Federal Way and later Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn, Washington.
After high school, Dona worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Spokane and later in Seattle. In 1964, she married Carl Weber, and together they raised four children: Dawn, Carl, and fraternal twins Daniel and Darin. When the twins began school, Dona returned to work as a playground monitor at Wildwood Elementary School and later became the Food Service Manager at Thomas Jefferson High School in the Federal Way School District.
After her children were grown, in 1988, Dona began working at the corporate offices of Costco Wholesale, where she built a successful career.
Dona was actively involved in the communities where she lived. She enjoyed bowling, participating in Twins Club, and in her later years volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul's food bank. She had a lifelong passion for baseball and basketball, enthusiastically cheering on the Seattle Mariners as a proud member of their booster club as well as a huge fan of the Seattle Sonics and Gonzaga "Zags".
Dona was also wonderfully creative and found great joy in baking and making crafts—talents she lovingly shared with family and friends through homemade treats and thoughtful, handmade creations.
A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Dona’s life truly revolved around her children and grandchildren. She had a zest for life and a love of travel, including trips to Europe with her siblings, Carol and Del, and a memorable visit to Hong Kong and the Philippines to see her daughter Dawn during her Peace Corps service.
Dona was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Julia (McClaren) Bettinger, and her brother James (Del) Bettinger. She is survived by her siblings Carol and Paul; her four children; her seven beloved grandchildren—Brittany, Reid, Sean, Julia, Peter, Alliyah, and Mary; and her two great-grandchildren, Eloise and Atticus.
Dona will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, creativity, and unwavering love and dedication to her family. She leaves behind an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her and will be deeply missed. May she rest in eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced at a later date
