Emma Weber Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brater-Winter Funeral Home (Harrison) on Mar. 18, 2026.
Emma Louise Weber, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026 at the age of 98. Born on January 23, 1928, in Moores Hill, Indiana, Emma was the ninth of eleven children born to Edgar and Lula Jane (nee Houston) Stevens. Raised in a bustling household in Moores Hill, she learned the values of resilience and nurturing from an early age, often aiding in the care of her nieces and nephews.

Emma's journey through life began with a spirited love story when she met William G. Weber. They exchanged vows on December 29, 1951, just a day before he was called to serve in Korea-a testament to her strength and unwavering spirit. After William's safe return, they settled into a vibrant family life in Harrison, Ohio, where they joyfully raised their two children, Steven and Jana Rae.

Throughout her life, Emma exemplified hard work and dedication. She worked at Seagrams and Schenley when Bill was in Korea and later took on roles at Kopp's Turkey farm and the Campbell Hausfield manufacturing plant. Her determination and love for her family were evident in everything she did. Emma was not only a devoted mother; she was a second mother to many nieces and nephews as well as children of neighbors and friends. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of countless children, whom she engaged with through games, outings, and lessons in life. She was proud to have played a role in shaping their futures, and her loving spirit will live on in each heart she touched.

A celebrated cancer survivor for over 13 years, Emma faced life with remarkable courage and grace, winning the affection of those around her. She brought joy to her family during card games, board games, and puzzle-building sessions. Among her cherished creations were crocheted blankets that serve as lasting treasures of her love.

Emma is preceded in death by her beloved husband William Weber; her parents; and her siblings, including Lawrence, Floyd "Shorty," Alice (Clarence "Bud") Palmer, Norma Johnson, Clayton (Mary), Franklin "Frankie", Edwin "Eddie", Loretta (Robert) Siebert, Harold "Bud" (Margie), and Doris "Dottie" Stevens, brothers-in-law: Duane (Leitha), Kermit (Barb) Weber and Bill Thelen; and sister-in-law: Julene (Willard) Volgelgesang.

Emma is survived by her children, Steve (Donna) Weber and Jana Cromer; her grandchildren, Bryan (Bev) Wilson, William (Bobbie) Weber, Michael (Michelle) Weber, David Weber, Timothy "TJ" (Chrissy) Cromer, Raeanne Brown, and Bradley (Kristine) Horn; her cherished great grandchildren: Kelsey (Nate) Dole, Sydney & Wyatt Claypool, Riley & Bronson Bailey, Finnley Weber, Lily & Harris Weber, McKenzie Jo Cromer, Michael Morrison, Cassian Cromer, Brantley Horn, Nicholas & Vinny Lingrosso, as well as a sister-in-law, Marcia Jo Thelen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In celebration of Emma's life, visitation will take place at Brater Winter Funeral Home, located at 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 5 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service honoring her memory will be held on Friday at 10 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Mt. Sinai, Indiana. The family appreciates your generosity and asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Sunman Fire Department of Sunman, Indiana or Margaret Mary Hospice Care of Batesville, Indiana in Emma's memory. Together, let us celebrate the beautiful life of Emma Louise Weber, who taught us all the true meaning of love and resilience.
