Donald Lee "Don" Ambrose

Donald Lee Ambrose, loving husband, father and grandfather, age 79 of Monticello, MN passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

He was born in Omaha, NE on September 3, 1946 the son of Leo M. and Dorothy J (Stroup) Ambrose.

Don was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam war and flew helicopters.

Don had more than a twenty-year career at AT&T in telecom, engineering and sales. He also was a helicopter pilot for Air Methods and owned his own helicopter business, Don's Helicopter Service Inc., in Nebraska. He enjoyed flying helicopters, racing boats, riding motorcycles and fishing. He was a talented musician on the guitar and keyboard. Don was an excellent cook and loved good food. He also was very fond of spending time with his grandchildren.

Survived by his loving wife Margie, children April Wiggins (Jason) and David Ambrose; step-children Joe (Nicole) Scharber and Jean (Matt) Houston; grandsons Zac, Isaiah, Jack and Max; granddaughters Makenna, Mandy, Brooke and Elise; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister Kathy Owens.

Celebrations of Life will be held in the Omaha Nebraska area at a later date and in Minnesota in June 2026. An interment with military rites will take place at the Omaha National Cemetery.
