Donald Potter Argyle was born March 30, 1933, to John "Jack" Argyle and Emily Grace Potter Argyle in Blackfoot, Idaho. He grew up having many fun adventures with his siblings and friends in Blackfoot, graduating from High School there. He attended Idaho State University in Pocatello where he earned a degree in television repair. He married his childhood sweetheart, Georgia Marilyn Thurman, in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 22, 1953. They were married 63 years before Georgia passed. Their daughter, Marilyn, was born in Blackfoot, Idaho while Don was attending military training in California for his service in the US Army. He was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia when their son, Mark, was born. After his military service, the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they purchased a home that was then on the edge of town. Their daughter, Becky, was born in Albuquerque. Don lived in that same home throughout the rest of his life. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 40 years and 4 months as a telemetry technician. He rode his bicycle to and from work, 14+ miles round trip every day until he retired. He logged over 200,000 miles total, noting it took three bicycles but the same motor. We often credit his good health and long life to this fact. Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings during his life at the ward, stake, and regional levels, having served twice as Bishop. He was a great supporter and leader in the Boy Scouts, helping organize the first and subsequent annual Klondike Derby campouts for the Albuquerque area. He taught many night sky lessons and led several hikes for girls camp as well. He was tasked with gathering the history of the Church in the area that was included in the cornerstone of the Albuquerque Temple. He served many years in the family history library, but his favorite work was serving in the Albuquerque Temple as an ordinance worker and sealer where he served until Georgia's health declined. He was a great example of a faithful follower of our Savior Jesus Christ. Don was an amazing man who touched many lives with his smile, jokes, and the fact that he never met a stranger. All were welcomed into his home and regularly treated with ice cream, his favorite food, before departing. He was good at leaving everyone he encountered with a smile on their face. Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Georgia; parents John and Grace Argyle; daughter Marilyn (Mark) Jarmie, son Mark (jan) Argyle; and his siblings Harold John (Rayma) Argyle, George Reed Argyle, Grace Ruth Argyle (Vern) Jackman, Dale Melbourne Argyle, and Joseph Dean Argyle. He is survived by his daughter Becky Argyle Mills (Terril) of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, son-in-law Mark Jarmie of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and daughter-in-law jan Argyle of Idaho Falls, Idaho, in addition to 16 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Eubank Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 4109 Eubank Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
