Donald L. Armstrong, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. He was born on August 6, 1940, in Louisville, to Louis and Bessie Armstrong.
Donald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Known for his great sense of humor, he was always quick with a joke and had a playful, prankster spirit that endeared him to all who knew him. He loved spending time at home, where he could often be found working on his favorite seek-and-find word puzzles, watching his beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats, or enjoying a delicious dessert—especially his favorite, coconut meringue pie.
In his leisure time, Donald took pleasure in working on his trucks and indulging in one of his favorite pastimes: watching and betting on the horses, with the Kentucky Derby being a highlight of his year. His passion for life and his easygoing, fun-loving nature made him a cherished presence in the lives of those close to him.
Donald will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His kindness, wit, and joy for life will leave a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Donald. You will be greatly missed.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Armstrong and Bessie Brown Armstrong; and 5 siblings, George Armstrong, John W. Armstrong, Darlene Miller, William Armstrong, and Jay C. Armstrong.
Left to cherish his memory, Donald is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda D. Armstrong; 5 children, Todd Armstrong (Christal), Samantha Armstrong (Jeremy), Brooke Armstrong (Ben), Kelly Sanford, and Kimberly L. Griffith; 4 stepchildren, Lorra Smith, Craig Alexander, Kent Alexander, and Boyd Allen Alexander; sister, Kathleen Osika; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and close friends.
