Donald W. Baird

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald W. Baird, who left us on August 15, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on July 8, 1935, in Canton, Ohio, Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Don lived a full life, from his early days growing up in Canton to his career as an installer in the public utilities sector with Ohio Bell (AT&T). He proudly served our country in the Navy Reserves from 1952 to 1960. He moved his family to a hobby farm in Carrollton, Ohio. In 1979, they moved to North Carolina then traveled the United States in their 5th wheel camper for 22 years.His journey through life was marked by hard work and adventure, where he also made room for laughter, sharing stories that showcased his infectious spirit.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Donald Elmer and Clotha Baird, son Donald Erich Baird, and brother Richard Baird. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Annette "SAM" Baird, daughters LuAnn Johnston (Joseph), Lori Douglass (Darell), Lynda Farquhar (Robert), and son Michael William Baird (Amy), and sisters Barbara Tritt and Patricia Bober, HE WAS AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS "PENNY TRICK GRANDPA" to 10 grandchildren, SARAH (MARK) PARKS, ANGELA (JOE) CANNON, ERIC (DANA) JOHNSTON, CHRIS (SHERRY) SANDEFUR, STEPHANIE (CHAD) SOUERS, KEVIN (KARYN) SANDEFUR, JOCELYN BEST (ANDRE), MATT (RAMIE) BEST, HOLLY (JAKE) SIRLS, and DONNIE (MAEGAN) BAIRD, 17 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, AND 2 GREAT, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. UNCLE DON WILL ALSO BE MISSED BY MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

Rest in peace, Donald W. Baird. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

Two Celebration of Life memorial services will be held inviting all who knew him to share in a time of reflection, laughter, and remembrance. We encourage everyone whose life was touched by Don to join us in honoring this remarkable man.
