Donald "Don" Lee Bates

Donald "Don" Lee Bates of East Wenatchee, Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 30th, at the age of 74. Don lived most of his days in the Wenatchee Valley, spending his final moments of life in the very same home that he grew up in as a boy.
After graduating from Eastmont High School in 1969, Don proudly served in the Navy, spending several years in Vietnam and was stationed in Hawaii. During this time, he purchased the first of several Harleys that he would own during his life. Don and his two brothers enjoyed many adventures together, riding their Harleys throughout the Pacific Northwest. The love of riding was a constant throughout Don's life up until he parked his bike for the last time earlier this winter.
After returning home following the Navy, Don started his own appliance repair business and eventually transitioned into the Houseman role at The Coast Hotel, where he worked for over 30 years. Don was a hard worker and took pride in a job well done.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Aaron Wilbur (Matt), Stephanie Michell (Steve), and Amanda Bates; his stepdaughter, Katrina Williams (Mark); his seven grandchildren; his two great grandchildren; his big brother, Ron (Kristen) and baby brother Chris (Cheryl); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Don is preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Becker, and both of his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, 378 Eastmont Avenue, East Wenatchee, WA 98802. It will be followed by a reception at The Rock in Rock Island for family and friends.
