Donald R. Bethel, 78, of Clarksburg, died on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born on Sunday, February 23, 1947, in Chillicothe, the son of the late James Donald and Rosetta Muriel Carroll Bethel.
He is survived by his three children; Toni (JP) Hampp, Jamee (Shawn) Lindsey and Abby (Timmy) Claytor all of Chillicothe, eight grandchildren; Bobbi, Nikki, Jordan, Brenden, Aubrey, Anna, Clara and Elaina, one great granddaughter; Addie and three brothers; Dave (Christie) Bethel, Dwight Bethel and Dean Bethel, all of Chillicothe.
Don was a 1965 graduate of Clarksburg High School. He was a proud Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He had worked as a mechanic at Thompson Consumer Electronics, Circleville. Don was a member of VFW Post 104, American Legion Post 62 and the Joseph Ellsworth White Post 483 American Legion.
A public graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with military honors being accorded by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends will have a time of visitation on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort. Don's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard, c/o VFW Post 108, 115 E. Main St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
