Donald J. Bracken, of Provincetown, formerly of Boston, Massachusetts died Tuesday, June 18,
2024 at Willow Springs Health Care Center, Palm Desert, California. He was 81.
Don was born in Manhattan, New York on May 19, 1943, a son of the late Hubert J. and Mary G.
(Tobin) Bracken. He was raised in Manhattan and Valley Stream, New York, attending LaSalle
Academy and St. John's University, both in New York City. Don graduated from Harvard Law
School in 1968. From there Don embarked on a career in the financial services industry, first
with the First National Bank of Boston, and then with Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard,
Massachusetts until his retirement. Don also invested in several small businesses in the Boston
area, including the Conway Company, Ltd. Boston, Brian's Fine Desserts. Braintree and Movies
'n More, Lexington and took an active interest in their management.
After his retirement, Don wintered in Palm Springs, California. He was an avid stamp collector,
orchidist and opera buff.
Don is survived by six brothers, Roger, Kevin, Brian, Timothy, Michael and Matthew Bracken,
their spouses and children and numerous friends in Provincetown and Palm Springs.
Internment of his ashes at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts will be private.
Memorial gatherings in Provincetown and Palm Springs will be scheduled at a later date.
